I learned at an early age that I was destined to have a career in the catering business. At only 12 years old, I had the opportunity to work with my grandmother, a cook and banquet manager. Although my only task at that age was to wash dishes, I knew then catering was my passion. My love for the industry was further strengthened at the Jersey shore where I spent my teenage summers cooking in an Italian restaurant.
After graduating from high school, I decided to fine-tune my cooking skills at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. At Johnson & Wales, I served as a teaching assistant in the banquet department and went on to graduate with honors from the University’s Culinary and Foodservice Management programs.
In late 2000, a friend asked me to cater a small family party. After catering the party, I quit my job as a restaurant manager and John Serock Catering was born.
